Day 19 – Praise Him whose nature is love!

1 John 4:16 (NLT) We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.   God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

I am human, I have short comings, and many times I am probably not easy to love by human standards. Yet, even in my unlovable state God loves me. In fact, the bible tells us that He loved us first. He loved us even when we were yet in sin. Before our hearts were clean, before we had been washed by the blood… He loved us… He so loved the world!

The world – as followers of Christ, we are to be imitators of Him. Sometimes I wonder, when I hear news of an abortion bombing done by some “christian group,” how they justify their actions…how they are portraying the love of Jesus to those who are yet deceived. Did they forget that Jesus died for each one of them as well? What about those “christian protesters” who stand with their signs that say, God hates fags? It contradicts the very essence of God’s nature.  Would Jesus stand on the side of the road holding up a sign which said God hated a group of people… My bible tells me, God hates sin, not the sinner!

Verse 7 Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. If God is no respecter of persons then my sin is no different then the sin mentioned above…yet, God still loves me!

Matthew Henry’s commentary said this – The objects of the divine love should be the objects of ours. Shall we refuse to love those whom the eternal God hath loved? We should be admirers of his love, and lovers of his love (of the benevolence and complacency that are in him), and consequently lovers of those whom he loves. The general love of God to the world should induce a universal love among mankind. That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth his rain on the just and on the unjust, Mt. 5:45.

Today, find time to praise God for His unmatchable, unfailing, undeniable, everlasting, eternal love for each and everyone of us!
